They say if you build it, they will come. Well, when Richard builds it, success is what comes. (Good thing he has the energy of 10 men!) The founder of Lock Search Group, Richard has led the company through nearly 30 years of exceptional growth. Today, Lock is the only professional Canadian search firm with offices from coast to coast, extending into the United States. Naturally, Richard invests a significant amount of time travelling to all branches of the company, including the Toronto office, where he works closely with Peter Zukow, his strategic partner on business development and management.

Sean Baker is a drummer. Not in a band, mind you - although he was a drummer in a band while at Saint Clair College studying Business Administration until that led to academic dismissal. After a prolonged period of begging, the Dean let him continue in his program. The cost of such permission: his drumsticks. After breaking those drumsticks across his knee, the Dean let Sean continue. Sean went on to great success: he was selected for the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition team and won several awards upon graduation. Sean has that rare knack of drumming up enthusiasm for things – whether it be entertaining people for twenty minutes describing the peanut butter sandwich he had for lunch or, even more improbably, supply chain management. With thirteen years experience in supply chain management he certainly can draw on a wealth of knowledge for that particular extended drum solo. He has held Operations positions in freight brokerage, was Assistant General Manager for a packaged gas company, Transportation Supervisor for a large warehousing and distribution company as well as sales positions with a number of trucking companies. Sean is excited by the adventure of taking on the role of Recruitment Consultant here at Lock as he is always ready for new challenges and experiences, whether that be picking up stakes and moving across the country or eating BBQ squirrel. Greg joined our Calgary team in 2006. People there say he has a real "sparkplug" of a personality, and, in fact, we're not sure anyone there really knows what hit them. Before joining us, Greg enjoyed a successful nine-year career with a multinational supply organization, where he held progressively more responsible roles in sales, sales management and regional management all across Canada. With all of this experience behind him, Greg is well positioned to meet the recruitment needs of our industrial and business-to-business clients all over Southern Alberta.

After 12 years of sales in surgical devices, auto sutures, endoscopy and micro implants for companies including Stryker and Tyco, Jay could well be said to have a strong connection to patients. Patience though? Well, he is working on developing greater inner peace – now! We guess impatience comes with being a tough competitor – Jay is both a competitive golfer and squash player and his prized possession is an autographed picture of Wayne Gretzky and Guy Lafleur from the 2003 Heritage Classic Hockey game in Edmonton, although his wife might argue that it’s actually his cell phone. Kieran is very thirsty. But what he seeks is not water (although he does love fishing). Kieran's thirst is for knowledge. Since graduating from the University of Saskatchewan, Kieran has supplemented his degree with numerous human resources, leadership development, strategic planning and management courses and seminars. With 17 years in the recruitment industry, Kieran has definitely learned a thing or two — mainly how to match candidates with companies and make a mean cup of coffee for those searches that go into the wee hours of the morning. Kieran is widely respected as one of the best in the business by clients and candidates for his high-quality approach, sense of immediacy and a focus that ensures a strong success rate.

You might say that David is an absolute sports nut who loves playing, watching and talking about every sport known to man ( especially soccer ). A former senior manager with several world class consumer products companies, David has worked and lived in six major Canadian cities – all of which have afforded him a strong understanding of both national and regional requirements for companies and candidates. Laura McPhee always resolves to never make New Year’s resolutions and then breaks that resolution every year. When you get your mind around that riddle you might begin to understand the wonderful complexity that is Laura McPhee. With a BSc. in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary, she also has a background in sales, pathological lung research and has coached competitive swimming for kids. She has published two peer reviewed articles and has more on the way. She counts, however, among her greatest accomplishments teaching herself to ride a motorcycle.
