    Job Summary

    Our client, a multinational pharmaceutical and medical device company, is seeking a Senior Corporate Engineering Manager to join their team. Reporting to the VP of Corporate Engineering, the incumbent will play a vital role in overseeing and advancing engineering functions across the organization. This position involves leading Site Master Planning efforts, capital planning and project execution, identifying and standardizing best practices, and contributing to global harmonization initiatives related to validation and engineering policies.

    This hybrid position offers the flexibility of working two days from home and three days in office, located in Cambridge, ON.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee the daily operations of the Corporate Engineering department, including project assignments, problem resolution, and prioritization of activities.
    • Manage and support the performance, development, and training of team members, including leading recruitment efforts for the department.
    • Lead the front-end phases of major capital projects, such as Site Master Planning, feasibility assessments, and conceptual designs.
    • Collaborate with the VP and engineering directors to support annual and multi-year capital planning for the Americas, ensuring alignment with the global capital plan and corporate objectives.
    • Drive multi-site implementation of large-scale industrial automation projects.
    • Partner with local engineering teams to deliver new facilities, equipment, and capabilities.
    • Identify engineering best practices for equipment, processing, and industrial IT systems, and lead the standardization of these practices across global sites.
    • Evaluate new technologies and support their implementation where applicable.
    • Implement and monitor compliance with corporate standards for engineering, maintenance, commissioning, qualification, and validation processes.
    • Lead expert teams in enhancing equipment performance, good engineering practices (GEP), validation protocols, and maintenance practices across sites.
    • Validate vendor and resource selection for selected capital projects, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
    • Manage the execution of select capital projects, working closely with local project management teams.
    • Identify opportunities to enhance validation processes for greater compliance, cost efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
    • Lead the capital project cost control process, ensuring accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and budget performance.
    • Oversee the design, commissioning, and qualification of select facility and equipment projects, ensuring proper integration across conceptual, detailed design, commissioning, and qualification phases.
    • Participate in the creation of detailed specifications for facilities and process equipment, including design, functional, and user requirement documents.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Biochemical, Chemical, or Mechanical preferred); Professional Engineering designation strongly preferred.
    • At least 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including 2+ years in leadership roles.
    • MUST HAVE experience and exposure with sterile product facilities and processes, including aseptic and terminal sterilization.
    • At least 5 years of operational or manufacturing experience.
    • PMP certification is an asset.
    • Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage projects effectively.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Project.
    • Knowledge of medical devices is an advantage.
    • Skilled at working within multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple projects.
    • Self-motivated problem-solver with strong initiative.
    • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Willing and able to travel up to 25%.
    • Experience in corporate engineering, validation, and quality structures is a plus.
