    Our client, a well-established and locally owned public practice firm, is looking to add a Senior Accountant to their Vancouver office. This opportunity, led by Jackson Stewart, offers a strong workplace culture and excellent work-life balance, including hybrid work options, a shortened summer workweek, and additional year-end vacation.     As a Senior Accountant, you will work closely with Partners and the Senior Manager, contributing to a dynamic team of accounting professionals. Your role includes preparing and reviewing corporate, personal, trust, and charity tax returns, as well as financial statements for compilation, review, and audit engagements. You will mentor junior staff, manage compliance filings (HST, GST, PST, WCB), and ensure client deadlines are met. Acting as a key liaison with clients and the CRA, you will provide expert tax and accounting support while utilizing industry-standard software such as CaseWare, QuickBooks, and Taxprep. IFRS knowledge and Assurance experience are considered assets.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with Partners and the Senior Manager as part of a skilled team of accounting and administrative professionals.
    • Handle the preparation and review of corporate, personal, trust, and charity tax returns to meet client and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare and review working paper files and financial statements for compilation, review, and audit engagements, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
    • Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior accounting staff, fostering professional development.
    • Act as a direct liaison with clients and CRA, providing expert tax and accounting support.
    • Utilize accounting software such as CaseWare, CaseView, QuickBooks, Simply Accounting, Taxprep, and Microsoft Office for accurate reporting and analysis.
    • IFRS knowledge is a plus, and experience in Assurance is considered an asset.
    • Manage and review HST, GST, PST, WCB filings, and other compliance-related submissions.
    • Track and ensure all client deadlines are met efficiently.

    Qualifications:

    • CPA designation preferred our currently enrolled in program
    • 2-3 Years of Canadian Accounting experience
    • Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and problem-solving skills
    • Passionate about tax and public practice accounting
    • Proficient in IFRS reporting and assurance (bonus, but not required)
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills
    • A team player who thrives in a supportive, fast-paced, and fun environment
