  • Ready to make an impact and accelerate your career?  Are you excited by the opportunity to manage your own P&L with significant autonomy?  Our client, a trusted name in the Canadian industrial supply industry for over 60 years, is looking to hire a talented Branch Manager in training in Owen Sound who is ready to take their career to the next level.  This person will be groomed to become the Branch Manager in Owen Sound over a 1–2-month onboarding period.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn from the existing Branch Manager during the onboarding/training phase, before taking over full responsibility for the branch and market performance.

    About the Role

    To begin with, as a Branch Manager in training, you’ll ensure exceptional customer service and be a key contributor to daily branch operations. This hands-on role involves handling a variety of branch functions, from processing orders and stock management to customer service and reporting. Additional responsibilities you will learn to manage and have responsibility for as Branch Manager include administrative functions, branch reporting, team building and performance management, P&L financial performance management, and inventory management. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and motivation to succeed, an entrepreneurial owner’s mindset, and a commitment to operational and customer service excellence.

    Responsibilities

    • Learn and lead: Gain a thorough understanding of branch operations while leading daily activities to ensure smooth and efficient functioning.
    • Deliver exceptional Customer Service: Ensure outstanding service to the company’s customers while building and maintaining strong relationships.
    • Operational Excellence: Drive efficiency, cost management, and overall branch profitability.
    • Collaborate and Coordinate: Work with various departments to establish goals, procedures, and strategies for success.
    • Hands-On Support: Step in and support any branch function, including warehouse tasks, customer service, and sales.
    • Administrative Oversight: Ensure all administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time.
    • Inventory Management: Assist with purchasing, inventory organization, and resolving quantity discrepancies.
    • Facility Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep of the branch facility, equipment, and delivery vehicle.
    • Security: Maintain branch security, including managing access and safeguarding assets.

    Requirements

    • Experience: Industrial experience is an asset, but attitude and work ethic are paramount.
    • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Able to quickly learn new software tools when needed.
    • Skills: Strong business acumen, entrepreneurial mindset, attention to detail, and results-driven.
    • Personality: Self-directed, motivated, and ready to take initiative.
    • Customer Service Focus: A deep understanding of customer service principles with a passion for delivering outstanding service.
    • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. The role involves regular interaction with customers and internal teams, so clarity and professionalism are key.
    • Organizational Skills: Excellent time management and organizational skills to ensure all customer needs are met promptly and efficiently.
    • Pressure Management: Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure, particularly when handling urgent customer requests.
    • Team Player: Willingness to work collaboratively and backstop any department as needed.
