Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) – Biotech (Animal Health)
Location: North America / Europe (Remote work with travel)
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead all Business Development and Commercial activities in North America and Europe. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in virology, extensive knowledge of the animal health sector, and a proven track record of successfully navigating regulatory environments in both the EU and USA. This is a key leadership position with significant responsibility in driving growth, innovation, and strategic partnerships.
Position Overview:
As the Chief Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing all business development, commercial strategy, and market expansion activities across North America and Europe. You will lead the commercial operations in these key regions, driving the launch and adoption of new animal health products, particularly in virology, bacteriology, and animal vaccines. Your expertise in navigating complex regulatory environments in the EU and USA will be essential to the success of the role, ensuring timely product approvals and market access.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development & Strategy:
- Lead the development and execution of the commercial strategy for animal health products in virology, bacteriology, and animal vaccines across North America and Europe.
- Identify and pursue strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and licensing opportunities to drive business growth and expand product offerings.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including veterinarians, animal feed manufacturers, and regulatory authorities.
- Market Access & Regulatory Expertise:
- Manage the regulatory processes for product approval in both the EU and USA, ensuring compliance with food and drug regulatory channels (FDA, EMA, etc.).
- Lead efforts in navigating regulatory frameworks for the approval and commercialization of innovative animal health products, working closely with internal regulatory teams.
- Monitor and adapt to changing regulatory policies and industry trends, ensuring the company remains ahead of the curve in terms of market access.
- Innovation & Product Development:
- Work closely with R&D and scientific teams to bring new, innovative products to market, particularly in the areas of virology, bacteriology, and animal vaccines.
- Drive the commercialization of new products from concept through to market launch, including market positioning, pricing strategies, and promotional activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, regulatory affairs, marketing, and sales to ensure seamless execution of commercial plans.
- Report to the CEO and Board of Directors on progress, challenges, and strategic opportunities.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 2-3 years experience as a CCO within Animal health, plus
- 5-7 years leading a true Business Development function within virology, bacteriology and or vaccines
- Minimum 15+ years of commercial experience in the biotechnology in animal health industry, with a focus on virology, bacteriology, or animal vaccines.
- Proven track record of developing and launching innovative animal health products in virology and/or bacteriology, with an emphasis on animal vaccines and animal feed.
- Deep understanding of the regulatory landscape in North America and Europe, with direct experience in navigating FDA and EMA approval processes for animal health products.
- Experience in business development, strategic partnerships, and driving growth in highly competitive markets.
- Education:
- Bsc, Msc or PhD in Life Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Microbiology, or a related field.
- An MBA or equivalent business qualification is a plus.
