Key Account Manager – Food Service
Greater Vancouver, BCOur client, a National food distributor, is looking for a sharp, high-potential individual to join their team as a Key Account Manager. The ideal candidate will realize the urgency & complexities of dealing within the Food Service landscape. This position will require individuals to exhibit exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities. A positive and can-do attitude is of utmost importance, reflecting their drive to overcome challenges and achieve outstanding results.
The Key Account Manager will be able to foster connections with current local and regional clients while also pinpointing opportunities to establish ongoing sales connections. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in the food industry and possess the ability to work autonomously to meet account development goals. The main goal of this position will be to drive and grow profitable sales volume with designated major foodservice distributors and processors, ensuring achievement of sales, revenue, profit, and personal targets in alignment with the National Foodservice Sales strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote and sell the company’s products to key regional/national accounts.
- Develop and execute business plans that cover volume, profitability, product opportunities, and promotional strategies.
- Create and implement customer plans aligned with the National Foodservice Sales strategy.
- Manage customer rebates, discounts, pricing, receivables, deductions, forecasting, product launches, and discontinuations, while gathering market insights within the territory.
- Submit monthly sales reports detailing variances, wins/losses, and explanations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers to achieve Foodservice Department sales goals.
- Negotiate agreements with key regional accounts, ensuring alignment with company strategies.
- Monitor budgets for key accounts and ensure commitments (volume, discounts, promotional plans) are met by collaborating with internal departments.
- Maintain regular internal communication to manage daily operations of regional chain accounts.
- Drive new and profitable sales growth with foodservice distributors, regional/national chains, and further processors.
- Evaluate category and product performance for each customer and adjust strategies accordingly.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor degree or technical certificate preferred but not necessary
- 3-5 years experience in sales - either field or key accounts, within CPG or Foodservice
- Above average communication, time and priority management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills so as to establish and maintain good business relations with customers
- Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfort using a CRM
- Shows proficiency in contributing to team success
- Thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Valid Drivers license
